Configuring Session Management

This content applies to CM1 5.3 SR1 or greater.

Session Management configuration controls several parameters related to User Sessions on the system.  The Session configuration can be altered by configuring the <Performance> parameters in the <Installation Directory>/rxconfig/Server/config.xml file.  Changes made to this configuration do not require a server restart.

Valid Parameters

userSessionEnabled

This parameter should always be set to yes.

userSessionTimeout

This parameter indicates when a user login Session times out due to inactivity.  Hits on the server after session time out will be redirected to the login screen.  The default setting is 1800 seconds (30 minutes).

userSessionWarning

This parameter indicates the time period before session timeout that a warning message will be displayed to an end user.  User's will be given the option to extend their session, or will be redirected to the login screen if the session expires.  The default is 60 seconds, or 1 minute.  Setting this value to -1 will disable session expiration warnings.

maxOpenUserSessions

This parameter indicates the maximum number of open user sessions allowed on the system.  Customer's with more than 2000 concurrent users should increase this parameter to match the maximum number of concurrent users on the system that they may have.

An example of the configuration is displayed below:

<Performance>
<userSessionEnabled>yes</userSessionEnabled>
<userSessionTimeout>7200</userSessionTimeout>
<userSessionWarning>60</userSessionWarning>
<maxOpenUserSessions>2000</maxOpenUserSessions>
</Performance>
