Assigning a New Landing Page to a Section

When a section is created in the navigation, a default landing page (index) is also created. However, you may wish to assign a different landing page.

To assign a new landing page:

  1. Open the Navigation Manager for the site.
  2. Drill down through the existing navigation to show the section you want to modify.
  3. In the Finder, expand the site and find the page you want to assign.
  4. Click on the page and drag it to the section to which you want to assign it. If the drop is valid, the section icon changes color on mouse over.
  5. Drop the page on the section.

When you drop the page on the section, the following things happen:

  • The page you dropped is renamed to the name of the page it just replaced. The replaced landing page is renamed to Name(n), where n is the incremental number of the replacement.
For example, if you assign a page named "alpha" as a section landing page, "Alpha" would be renamed to "index", while "index" would be renamed "index(1)".
  • The value of the Page Link Text field on the newly-assigned landing page is updated to match the value of the field in the replaced page.
  • If the newly-assigned page is not Live or Pending, it remains in its current worklow state. If the page is Live or Pending, it will be opened for edit so you can review the page before publishing.
